Tiger Wheel & Tyre and Hankook are offering an off-road tyre they say will reach 80 000km, and guaranteeing that it will.
The two companies announced their introduction of South Africa’s first mileage warranty on all-terrain tyres. The innovative warranty guarantees buyers that their all-terrain Hankook Dynapro AT-M RF10 tyres will reach 80 000km.
The warranty is straightforward and applies to the purchase of two or more Hankook Dynapro AT-M RF10 tyres in sizes 15 to 18 inch. Every 10 000km thereafter, the vehicle must be returned to Tiger Wheel & Tyre for tyre rotation, balancing and alignment checking. In addition, tyre pressure must be checked monthly and tyres inflated to the manufacturer’s specification.
In the event of the tyres not reaching the guaranteed 80 000 km, customers will receive credit towards a new or equivalent Hankook tyre of the same size. The compensation is based on a calculation against the mileage already used on the tyre and the usable tread life left, terms and conditions apply.
INNOVATIVE TYRE TECHNOLOGY
EfficientGrip SUV is the latest offering in Goodyear’s ‘EfficientGrip’ family, and follows the Wrangler HP All Weather range.
It’s been dubbed the ‘decathlete of the tyre world’ because, unlike high performance road tyres or really rugged off-roaders, EfficientGrip SUV is a jack-of-all-trades.
The new tyre combines the excellent road and braking grip qualities of the EfficientGrip range, while incorporating Goodyear’s innovative FuelSaving technology, better rolling resistance, and a comfortable yet quiet ride on both tar and dirt.
Independent tests against both predecessors and competitors have shown EfficientGrip SUV to deliver:
• lower fuel consumption
• lower co² emissions
• a quieter ride
• dramatically reduced braking distance
In South Africa, a broad size range (from 16” to 19”) of this all-rounder will be imported by Goodyear for the local market, as well as for OE replacement requirement.
EfficientGrip SUV is produced using the very latest manufacturing techniques and materials. An advanced tread compound is tightly woven into the tyre’s structure, for example, which uses traction resins to further enhance wet braking; and noise is minimised by utilising an optimised block design and sequence.
The tyre is also lighter, which improves steering precision and handling for drivers.
Aimed specifically at the SUV and 4×4 vehicle markets, the new EfficientGrip SUV tyre combines the road grip qualities of the EfficientGrip range, with an active ability to deliver lower fuel consumption, lower CO2 emissions and a quieter ride. The tyre is available for a range of SUV/4×4 vehicles, from luxury/full size vehicles through standard, compact and sub-compact ranges.
“As SUV and 4×4 vehicles become more economical and car manufacturers work hard to meet, and exceed, ever stricter environmental standards, Goodyear has worked as hard to ensure that its tyres support this ongoing drive,” states Hugues Despres, Brand Director EMEA at Goodyear. “Today, the arrival of Goodyear’s EfficientGrip SUV is delivering on this need, introducing a tyre that supports fuel economy, delivers advanced features designed to improve wet and dry handling and braking, while ensuring a smoother, quieter ride.”
Built utilizing the company’s innovative FuelSaving Technology, Goodyear’s EfficientGrip SUV delivers a tyre that is constructed using a special polymer, designed to improve rolling resistance, save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions.
New advanced features include 3D blades in the tread, designed to improve the tyre’s overall contact with the road and reducing the vehicle’s braking distance by several meters . Meeting the demand for improved grip on wet surfaces is an advanced tread compound, tightly woven into the tyre’s structure, which uses traction resins further improving the tyre’s braking on wet roads. The optimized block design and sequence reduces the tyre’s noise harmonics.
